Good evening, friends! Mommy subject today! Baby Led Weaning! Or a better term for it- extremely messy eating! Noah is 10 months now and he is all about eating! In the beginning, I really wanted to go the BLW approach. I loved the way it sounded. Not spoon feeding him. Letting him eat what he wants from his plate and learning to chew before he swallows instead of the other way around. His first food (6 months) was avocado and he absolutely loved it! But, lets be real, when you go to restaurants, it's so much easier to bring a pouch (Our fav is Plum Orgainics!) or a jar of what ever baby food you prefer. We try to stick with organics around here.. So, needless to say, I didn't do BLW as much as I liked. But right now, I have a break from school (Until August!) and we have been putting this whole BLW thing into gear! I have really been working on it for about 3 weeks now and he is starting to realize to chew first. (Thank goodness!) In the beginning, they will gag by natural reflex and it will scare the mess out of you, but I assure you, they are just fine. Noah only has two teeth so, soft foods and/or things that dissolve are about it for now. Here is one of his lunches!

On his Re Play plate (made from recycled milk jugs.. How cool!) I did 2 slices of avocado with the skin to help with gripping (wash the skin thoroughly with soap first.. they are not the cleanest!), some raspberries pulled apart, and some Plum Organics carrot & apple puree (I load the spoon for him and he *tries* to ring his mouth... sometimes with success and others not so much..) He ate the raspberries first (no surprise there) and then moved to the avocado. He kept reaching in the section where the raspberries were so he had a few more of those. Overall, he loved this! And he ate almost everything! If you have any questions about BLW please feel free to ask me!
